Cookie policy
This page explains what this website stores on your device. The short answer: very little, and only to make your cart work.
Does this site use cookies?
No profiling cookies. There are no social buttons that follow you, no Facebook pixel, and we load no fonts or images from other sites: everything you see when a page opens is served from our own domain. The only external services are the statistics tool, the videos and the payment at checkout, described below.
That is why you find no cookie banner: there is nothing here for which the law requires us to ask your consent.
The statistics tool
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: how many people arrive, from which country, from which search engine or link, which pages they read, which products they look at and how many reach the cart. It helps us write more useful pages and understand what really interests people.
We have configured it to stay within the boundary of technical tools:
- the IP address is not kept in full, so you are not identifiable;
- the combining of data across devices and Google services is switched off (the «Google Signals» feature);
- ad personalisation is switched off and there is no link to any advertising system;
- the statistics concern this site only and are read in aggregate form;
- the data is kept for the shortest period the tool allows.
On these conditions, according to the guidance of the Italian data protection authority, statistics tools are treated as technical cookies and do not require consent. The information notice is still due, and it is this page together with the privacy notice.
If you would rather not be counted, you can install Google's opt-out add-on for Analytics, available for the most common browsers, or use private browsing. The site works exactly the same.
Videos
Some pages contain a video hosted on YouTube, a Google service. Until you press play you only see an image served from our own domain and nothing reaches YouTube. If you press play, the video loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode: from that moment Google receives your IP address and the technical data needed to play it, and may store information on your device under its own rules. If you would rather avoid this, simply do not start the video: the rest of the site works exactly the same.
The payment page
When you reach the checkout, that page loads the components of Stripe, the service that handles payments on our behalf. Stripe sets a few technical cookies needed to make the payment work and to spot fraud attempts: without them a card could not be used safely. They are strictly necessary to a service you have asked for, so they require no consent.
They load only on the checkout page: if you browse the site without buying, Stripe never comes into play. Your card details never pass through our systems at any point.
What is stored in your browser
We use two storage areas that the browser makes available to websites. They are not cookies: they do not travel over the network with every request and they stay on your device.
- Your cart. The products you choose and their quantities are saved in the browser's local storage, under the name
meloria-cart. It is there so that if you change page, or come back tomorrow, your cart is still waiting. It contains neither your name nor any personal data, and it does not reach our servers until you send us the order. - The order summary. When you go to the payment page, the summary is kept for the duration of your visit, so we can show you what you bought on the thank-you page. It deletes itself straight afterwards.
- The destination country you choose in the cart, so we need not ask again at every visit.
These are technical tools strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, and as such they do not require your consent under Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code.
How to delete them
Emptying the cart from the site's panel removes the data. Alternatively you can clear site data from your browser: in Chrome and Safari this is done from the privacy settings, choosing to remove the data stored for this site. The site will keep working: you will simply find an empty cart.
Server logs
Like every website, the server records the requests it receives: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the type of browser. They keep the site running and defend it from attacks, not to recognise you. We cover them in the privacy notice.
Links to other sites
Some links lead away from here: WhatsApp, when you choose to message us, and the acetaia's Instagram profile. They are ordinary links — nothing loads until you click — but once you arrive on those sites their rules apply, not ours.
If anything changes
If one day we add an external service or change the configuration of the statistics tool, we will write it here and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first with a banner. For any question: imalettisrl@gmail.com.
